Ad Hoc Internet Connection In Windows 8

Apart from Start Orb and classic Start Menu, what most Windows 7 users, who decided to take Windows 8 for a spin, miss in Windows 8 is ability to create ad-hoc network. If you’re a power users, you might’ve noticed that Windows 8 doesn’t include an option to create and setup ad hoc network connection to share files and internet with Wi-Fi enabled computers and devices. Windows 7 ad hoc connection feature does nothing except creating a shared connection with separate IP address to register the device on the virtual network. This allows users to use router’s default or specified DNS server address to easily connect to internet. Even though Windows 8 comes with ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) feature to allow devices  to connect to yours PC internet connection, it doesn’t allow creating a wireless network connection to share the internet. In this post, we will look at some tools that let you easily create and manage ad-hoc connections in Windows 8.

Using Windows Netsh Utility
The Network Shell (netsh) utility is basically developed to let users configure network devices in both client and server editions of Windows. The support for configuring WLAN using netsh was first introduced in Windows Vista, and it’s now available in Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 and Windows 8. Using netsh wlan command, one can easily use hosted network (virtualization) feature to create a virtual wireless connection. The Hosted Network is WLAN feature, which is designed to implement virtualization of physical network adapter. Since it plays a vital role in creating a virtual wireless adapter, it’s used by a majority of virtual Wi-Fi hotspot applications, such as Virtual WiFi Router, MyPublicWiFi, Marfi etc. So, if your NIC supports wireless hostednetwork / virtualization feature, then you can create an ad hoc wireless connection and turn your PC into Wi-Fi hotspot.
As stated earlier, both Windows 7 and Windows 8 natively support configuring ad hoc wireless connection using the netsh commands. In order to create an ad hoc connection in Windows 8 using netsh utility, run CMD with administrative privileges’; just type cmd on Start Screen, right-click it and select Run as administrator.

Now, first you need to check whether your network interface supports virtualization or not. Simply, run the following command to view Hosted network supported status.
netsh wlan show drivers

In case, it says No, you will need to update your network adapter’s driver. If your NIC supports virtualization, you’re good to go. Now, enter the following commands to configure an ad hoc wireless connection.
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=<network name> key=<passkey>

Once the hosted network has been set to allow, you need to start the mode to create an ad hoc connection. Just enter the command below.
netsh wlan start hostednetwork

If it says “hosted network couldn’t started”, you need to disable current wireless network device and then enable it. You may also need to refresh network adapter list from Device Manger to install a virtual network device driver.
When the hosted network is started, enable ICS for newly created Wi-Fi connection, so that you can share your internet connection with others. In order to enable ICS feature, head over to Network and Internet –> Network Connections, and open Properties dialog of network device (which is connected to internet). Now, open Sharing tab, enable Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection, and then choose the newly created ad hoc connection from the list. In our case, it’s Wi-Fi 2, as shown in the screenshot below.

Once the internet connection is shared, check the IP address assigned to newly created ad hoc connection from TCP/IPv4 Properties. If it doesn’t assign IP address, then run netsh wlan start hostednetwork command in CMD.

After following the above steps, you will be able to connect Wi-Fi enabled devices with your Windows 8 PC. As shown in the screenshot below, the current internet connection is successfully shared with ad hoc connection.

Using Third-Party Wi-Fi HotSpot Creator
If you don’t want the fuss of having to manually configure a wireless ad hoc connection, then previously featured WiFi HotSpot Creator provides the best solution. It’s a zero-configuration software, designed to quickly create an ad hoc connection. It basically turns your PC into a virtual router, enabling all nearby Wi-Fi enabled devices to use your PC’s internet connection. All you need is to enter SSID name, passkey, and specify network interface to share the internet. Clicking Start will turn your PC into a Wi-Fi hotspot.

If you’re looking for a tool to configure the ad hoc connection and manage the connected devices from a unified interface, Connectify provides you with what you’ve been looking for. It’s an application that transforms your PC into a Wi-Fi hotspot, allowing you to share the internet connection with others. Apart from transforming your PC into a WiFi hotspot, it allows you to view and manage all connected devices, and set internet access permissions for each connected device.

It’s worth mentioning here that virtual WiFi creators require virtualization-enabled Network Adapter for creating WiFi Hotspot. So, if none of above methods work out for you, then you may need to install a NIC that supports virtualization feature.

Reasons of slow internet.

Reasons of slow internet

Slow internet is one of the major causes which can hamper the pace of any business. Such slow internet speed can be caused due to any issues like configuration problems, interference in the wireless and broadband.
Causes why internet does not perform normally are:

 1.ActiveX controls

Slow internet can also be caused due to the activation of Activex control which implies that the users can’t see a page due to some inactive settings. So, the users can remove the settings for these controls by downloading an internet Explorer patch of Microsoft and hence get rid of the problem of slow internet.  Reboot your computer after this patch has been downloaded on the PC.

2.Viruses and spyware

Slow internet connection can also be generated due to many kinds of issues like installation of viruses and spyware on your computer. Sometimes, the programs installed on the computer along with its memory, space of the hard disk also cause slow internet speed. Spyware installed on the computer can also be removed through deleting these programs through the PC’s control panel.
The reason why the installation of spyware on the PC generates slow internet speed is because such software has a tab of all the online activities of a user. In fact the keystrokes of a user which imply the way he employs internet are included in his internet behavior. You must have reboot your computer many times in order to improve the performance of internet. But this can’t have any impact because slow internet speed is produced due to reasons like presence of several spyware on the PC.

3.Number of operating applications

Sometimes, use of several applications at once is also because of slow internet behavior. In that scenario, reboot your computer to remove the factor of slow internet speed.

4.Browser settings

Sometimes, the browser settings also have an impact in terms of slow internet pace. This can happen when the computer’s browser has many add-ons in terms of search extensions and programs for opening special documents.
So, the user should remove all these add-ons in order to remove slow internet behavior. After removal of the add-ons, again reboot your computer in order to restore normal internet behavior.

5.Router settings

The kind of internet tool employed by the user also decides his internet performance. You can reboot your computer after adjusting these settings. These settings can also be affected by any physical obstruction between the modem and your PC.
Sometimes, internet connections are slow from the service provider itself, so nothing can be done. Router settings can also be changed to make compatible with those desired by the internet service provider.

6.Internet settings

Reboot your computer option is tried by many people to remove the slow internet functionality, but it is not relevant for a low internet speed. A user can also reduce the days for which the history of web pages is stored. Just reboot your computer again after the number of days for which the page history is reduced to one. Encrypted pages which require user ids and passwords to be stored can also produce sluggish internet behavior. So, don’t save these pages in history. We provide competent solutions to remove the problem of slow internet.

BAD_POOL_CALLER 0x000000c2

BAD_POOL_CALLER 0x000000c2 problem is a common problem with Windows operating system with many forums discussing it over and over. This problem mostly  appears in Laptops Such as Dell , Compaq, Hcl, Sony and others

Here is What i suggest, you can do to solve this problem.

Root Cause - Bad Pool Caller (stop code 0x000000C2)  :-

A defective memory or a faulty hardware.
Generally this is associated with damaged or incompatible drivers.
If you encounter this message while upgrading Windows, it may mean that the hardware is not compatible with new updates. In that situation either rollback or  Try disconnecting devices, or looking for a suitable driver for Windows.

Solution 1 - Fix Driver issues :-

1. Login and enter password if needed
2. Then in safe mode click start->run
3. Type devmgmt.msc and hit enter this will run device manager
4. Expand all (+) if needed and see if you find any yellow exclamation marks.Any yellow exclamation          marks will indicate corrupted or incompatible drivers.
5. Remove or uninstall that driver and install a updated copy of the driver from the official website.

Some of the most common Driver are ;-
Video Drivers: Nvida , ATI, Intel
Chipset and CPU drivers - Intel ,AMD, Via

Solution 2 - Check Memory :-

Both Windows7 and Vista includes memory test program when booting from the Windows DVD.
or Download Free memory test software from : http://www.memtest.org
Burn it to black CD or make a bootable USBstick.Once booted it will test your memory. One full past will catch most errors, but you can let it run longer.
I would run it first to see if it finds any problems with either stick. If it does take one out and test on each stick individually. If only one stick tests bad then it's very likely the problem, but if both test bad ,or neither, then it's likely something else.

Solution 3 - Re install Windows :-

New installation if windows will insure that all drivers and hardware compatible errors are gone and everything will be back to normal.Pleasee backup your date before formatting your windows.

Samsung Omina W Review

Samsung Electronics today unveiled the Omnia W, its first smartphone running on the updated Mango version of Windows Phone.
(Credit: Samsung)
Samsung plans to launch the Omnia W in Italy starting late next month, and eventually through Europe, Latin America, Southeast, and Southwest Asia. The company didn't provide any date for a U.S. arrival.
Samsung was among the early supporters of Microsoft's Windows Phone platform, which has only seen moderate success during the first go-around. The Mango update of the software, however, has won critical praise, although it's unclear if that will translate to commercial success.
Based on its specifications and hardware, the phone is more of a mass-market device.
The Omnia W has a 1.4GHz processor, 512MB of memory, 8GB of storage, and a 3.7-inch Super AMOLED display.
It has a 5-megapixel auto-focus camera with LED flash in the rear, and a front-facing VGA camera for video calls. It also allows for 720p video recording and playback. Other features that are standard in smartphones now are Wi-Fi, Bluetooth capabilities, an accelerometer, and light, proximity, magnetometer, and gyroscope sensors.
While the specs are solid, they still fall short of the Galaxy S II, Samsung's flagship smartphone that runs on Google's Android platform.

7. Change the silencer.
Here is the beauty...

Bill
1. TVS Rambo 140/90 15 inch Tyre and Rim – 5000 Rs.
2. Custom wider Mudguard and Chrome plated seat stay – 4500 Rs

Problems due to the modifications
If you want to have killer looks, be ready to sacrifice a lot. These are some of the problems .
1. The power and acceleration got reduced.
2. Mileage must have decreased.
3. The tyre touches the mudguard when riding over road bumps. And some irritating sound is coming. So i had to harden the rear shock absorbers and increase the height of the bike.
4. Difficult to ride through traffic because of wider handle bars.
5. Had to remove the chain cover for fitting wider tyres and swing arm. And some noise is coming from the chain.
6. Had to remove the decompression cable because of wider handle bar.

The Nokia Lumia 800 Review

The Nokia Lumia 800 is the first Windows Phone handset to spring from the Microsoft / Nokia tie-up announced in February, and we've got our hands on an early sample to check it out.
The Nokia Lumia 800 shares its exterior styling with the previously substantially less hyped Nokia N9, a Meego-based smartphone, although the screen size is reduced from 3.9" (854x480 pixels) to 3.7" (800x480 pixels) to conform to the Windows Phone spec list.

The CPU, however, increases from the 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 to the 1.4GHz MSM8255 Snapdragon/Scorpion which certainly helps add snap to the Windows Phone Mango OS.

The Nokia Lumia 800, although being the more expensive of the two Nokia Windows Phone offerings (the other being the budget Nokia Lumia 710) shares the Nokia N9's 16-bit AMOLED ClearBlack display whereas the Nokia Lumia 710 sports a 24-bit ClearBlack TFT

This being said, even though the colour depth is theoretically deeper than in the Nokia Lumia 710, AMOLED screens are seen as better than the older TFT technology due to the more vivid colours and better contrast ratios.

Moving away from Nokia comparisons, the Lumia 800 also has to compete with the likes of the HTC Titan and HTC Radar Windows Mango phones. When we compare screen size we find the Nokia Lumia 800 feeling a little small with the HTC Radar and HTC Titan entering the fray with 3.8" and 4.7" screens respectively although all competitors are limited to the same 800x480 pixel resolution.
Obviously the iPhone has managed to be a success with a smaller screen at 3.5-inches, but the trend towards bigger displays is increasing all the time, and we have to say we're fans of those over four inches thanks to the improved internet and media experience.

This means that the pixel density on the Lumia 800 is a little sharper, but in our side by side comparisons we noted very little difference between the three, and even the Lumia 800 displaying text with a little less clarity.
When it comes to internal storage the Nokia Lumia 800 and HTC Titan are equal with 16GB of fixed internal storage, with the Nokia Lumia 710 and HTC Radar weighing in with 8GB a piece.
Based on the two manufacturer's product specs it soon becomes apparent that the Nokia Lumia 800 is intended to compete against the HTC Titan and the Nokia Lumia 710 with the HTC Radar.
When compared dimensionally with the HTC Titan (131.5mm x 70.7mm x 9.9mm and 160g) we note that the Nokia Lumia 800 (116.5mm x 61.2mm x 12.1mm and 142g) cuts a very slim profile, with a lighter yet reassuring weight.
The physical appearance of the Nokia Lumia 800 is a dream to observe and handle, with its smooth curves fitting snugly to the hand both with and without the protective case provided in the purchase packaging.
First impressions of the phone are mixed. If you're used to handling the current crop of super slim handsets doing the rounds in today's phone shops, you can't help but feel the Lumia 800 is a little on the chunky side, even compared to the iPhone 4S thanks to it being around 10% thicker.

However, that's not to say it isn't an attractive device, with its large 3.7-inch OLED screen pushed to the sides of the chassis and a cool curved polycarbonate shell gives the phone a very premium feel indeed.
Nokia has worked very hard on the unibody design here, making the battery inaccessible and using top-mounted flaps to cover the charging port and SIM slot - intriguingly, we're seeing a microSIM here, which seems to be the fashion for the next wave of smartphones.

-

It's a slightly odd system, and one that some will find a little bit difficult to get used to - but it does lend a certain sleekness to the design.
One area we can see getting consumers annoyed is on the back panel - as you can see the demo sample we tried was already scratched up, and the same thing has already begun happening on our review model.

Android 2.3.7 Hits The Streets!

Well, it seems that the people/team behind Gingerbread really do not want to see this fantastic version of Android to be left behind and forgotten. Because of this, they decided to start rolling out what is likely to be one of the last updates to Gingerbread, Android 2.3.7. Several devices received OTAs being pushed in about a week and a half ago. Needless to say, between that time and now, roms of all sizes and colors have surfaced for a ton of devices across the site thanks to people like XDA member qbking77 who decided to pull out the update out of a friend’s device . Among them, we can see roms and updates to the new OS on the Nexus S, Nexus One, SGS2, and a few others.
There are already roms out from famous groups such as ACS and Cyanogen. So, if you are itching to have the latest of the latest before ICS hits the streets (either as a leak, via eBay, or as an official update), you should do a quick search on your device forum and see what you can find.
